Welcome to the Wirth Lab homepage! As of January 1st, 2020, we are part of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Our research focuses on the interactions, dynamics, and assembly of particles suspended in bulk fluids and at interfaces. In particular, we seek to measure and exploit weak ~kT scale interactions between complex colloidal particles, including carbon nanotubes, Janus particles, and ellipsoids, and subsequently leverage this new knowledge for implementation in a broad selection of industrial, engineering, and scientific areas. In addition to doing fundamental research, we anticipate working with the coatings, biomedical, and oil & gas industries on the development of innovative new products and tools.

We have multiple PhD positions available for Fall 2020.

You can apply to the PhD program via this link.
